Previuosly released on P.N.G's debut EP "The Darkest August", this instrumental has a haunting 'vocal' all its own, taking sound bites from the actual 9/11/01 Attacks, and inveriable aftermath.

It has no opinion. No message of negetivity. No message of hope.

    It just is..

Think you can handle 'the truth'?

DUAL-SINGLE RELEASE BY P.N.G. GETTING STRONG PRESENCE ON INTERNET RADIO.

CEO pushes back “Programmed Response” release to facilitate albums’ ‘classic’ potential

    (ShoEnTeL Press Release)

“I Am The Air”, The classic-rock track, and “Farewell 2 My Nation”, the straight-forward political rap tune both made and produced by multi instrumentalist/ multi-genre artist P.N.G., are both getting heavy rotation from several major internet radio hubs in the past two months. WGAD.NET, a well-known purveyor of independent music based in Greece, New York, has been playing both tracks simultaneously as they have been getting frequently requested by local audiences for airplay and have had a constant presence on the Top 40 most requested since December.

ZFM, part of corporate communication mogul ILR Television and Radio Australia, has reportedly been playing both tracks on average of 3 times a day each across several internet and terrestrial radio stations across the South Pacific beginning in January, receiving positive response.

..Air”, originally released back in September, started showing signs of life when requests for its performance by various internet radio station music directors spiked in November. In response to the sudden interest, KC Shoen, CEO of ShoEnTeL Music, P.N.G.s parent label, decided to release “Nation” to demonstrate the artist’s ability in vacillating between genres, saying “ I thought it necessary to extrapolate that part of the dynamic, by offering ‘Nation’ as a companion piece to ‘Air’, as the tracks are so wildly different from one another. It really plays on (P.N.G.’s) ability to sharply change genre without missing a beat, or sounding pretentious. Not too many artists or bands can move so fluidly in that regard. That’s what P.N.G. is about, and it’s exactly reflective of the labels’ vision of itself musically. The ‘revolution’ is officially on.”

Both singles are currently made available as purchasable downloads through ShoEnTeL Music’s Myspace website, and will be available as a Maxi Single CD release in the coming weeks through iTunes. P.N.G.s follow-up to his 2006 release “The Darkest August” called “Programmed Response”, has been pushed back from its original January release date to sometime in early spring, promises more of the same ‘genre schizophrenia’ than even its predecessor could claim, according to KC, stating “usually the approach to positive response such as this is to rush the album out, but both songs are so high in quality and content I wanted the rest of the CD to be just as strong, and in allowing more time for that to happen will make an already ‘good’ CD a ‘great’ one. And given its multi-genre depth, I wanted to ensure we gave fans something to really sink their teeth into, rather than ‘half-step’, and short change what might be a classic album for all time.”

The Maxi-Single contains an instrumental remix of “Nation”, as well as a radio-edit version of “After Vacant Souls” , a song about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and its implications about American culture as a whole. Unlike the ‘Darkest August’ version, it is not ‘blended’ with other songs, and has been re-mastered for better sound quality, according to the label. “Nation” will also not be part of the song line-up of “Programmed Response” and is to remain a ‘B-Side’, only available as a download and part of the released single CD line-up.

    PNG: A One Man Arsenal
    The argument FOR Genre Schizophrenia

When asked two years ago by a friend in Hollywood why he changed his name to three letters..and why he does not use his face to adorn the cover of his C.D., P.N.G. responded,
Because it is not about who I am in the physical. It is about the music. Let the music define who I am. Let music be my identity. Its all they need to see.

The music has become the location for experimentalism and creating material that sounds unlike anything else, both lyrically reflective of the times we live in, as well as having a perceptive and expressive style that is deep, real, and based on these experiences. Since the age of 15, P.N.G. has been more focused on strong content and meaningful conveyance through concepts, both concrete and abstract. Having been influenced by the likes of Pink Floyd, Prince, KRS-1, and Funkadelic. He began his odyssey as a freestyle rapper, deciding to further his expression by being his own band..learning four instruments, developing vocals, and later acquiring an audio engineering background. Over time, PNG became fearless to tackle subjects considered too controversial and sacred to lend an opinion.

P.N.G.s 2006 debut EP The Darkest August: Life inside The Myst questioned the current American cultural derision using Hurricane Katrina and 9/11 as the backdrop for its concept, digging further down into the questions of our own humanity as the most affluent nation on the planet. The racism, the violence, the ignorance; this myst he perceived that we are ALL responsible for creating and fostering as a nation: it asks more questions than it answers.

Having received good reviews for the EP, but unable to obtain exposure for the six-song EP on a grander scale, P.N.G. decided to establish his own label, ShoEnTeL Music which debuted in June 2007, and began production on Programmed Response, a much more well-rounded and genre-diverse album than the previous. I Am The Air, a very direct, classic rock-sounding tune is currently complete. The song embodies a catharsis between what is elevation in the material world as opposed to what it means in the spiritual. Farewell 2 My Nation, the politically-driven rap track about current controversies, takes a stab at a more sarcastic view of them, yet being very informative at the same time. What the legendary KRS-1 used to call Edu-Tainment.

The goal is not just to offer another tired indie product, but sound that truly embraces all genres and styles, beyond hype and commercialism. Its about the music. Its about time. Programmed Response is due January 2008 .

This is from the August 15, 2007 program of the weekly music talk show "A&R Radio". The segemnt features Scott Austin, a successful former A&R rep from Maverick/Warner offering solid music advice, and myself ("P.N.G.") This particualr program was very informative. If you are an artist, or know of someone who is, I would pass this along. Alot of useful information.
